#StandUpForEarlyYears: Childbase Partnership celebrates 'extraordinary people'

More than 2,000 Childbase Partnership owners from the group's 43 nurseries came ‘together’ with online celebrations to mark National Employee Ownership Day on 29 June after going through the most challenging period of their company's history.

The company provided full pay for everyone, with a ‘top up’ applied to the 80 per cent Government grant aid for furloughed partners, and a bonus and free Childbase nursery childcare for those working through the pandemic, in addition to weekly updates explaining Government directives and the health of the business in the midst of Covid-19 challenges

Emma Rooney, managing director of Childbase Partnership, which became fully employee-owned in 2017, said,' The collective effort in rising so completely and effectively to the challenges posed by the pandemic has made these celebrations more significant than ever before. We are celebrating extraordinary achievements by extraordinary people in extraordinary times.'

The support was also extended to parents who were reimbursed for sessions lost to the Covid lockdown and provided with an extensive range of home learning and play resources and aids.

All nurseries remained open – eight merged to maintain Keyworker provision – during lockdown with nursery teams uploading personal messages and video stories for their children using the company’s parent app and website. Occupancy has increased steadily across the business.
