Elephant wants to play hide and seek but warns boy that he’s ‘very good’ at playing it. Boy certainly isn’t very good at spotting this particular elephant in the room, even when only a blanket or a lampshade is covering his head. Nor does boy notice that his little dog spies the elephant every time. Finally, elephant reveals himself, just as tortoise arrives wanting to play tag – and he’s ‘very good’!
But who is the clever one here? The little dog for always spotting the elephant or the young ‘reader’ who knows how silly it is to think that if you hide your head or cover your eyes, you can still be seen?
