Understanding Early Years Policy

By Damien Fitzgerald (Sage, £23.99)

Now in its fourth edition, this book, which comes out on 4 April, provides context to the political machinations behind recent policies including the 30 hours. Particularly useful is how to research early years policy and a timeline of different policy developments. As the author wrote in Nursery Management (spring 2016 edition), ‘the focus on 30 hours is about supply of hours [for parents] – not quality of provision.’ Practitioners using this promotional code – UK16RE12 – can get a 20 per cent discount until 30 May 2016.
