As we approach recruitment season in education I have paused to reflect on some of our processes at school and consider whether or not to tweak them or completely rework them from scratch.
Someone I trust implicitly once said to me “you live and die by your appointments” and every single time I arrive at a point where I am about to make a decision to employ a teacher I revisit this phrase and deliberate further, sometimes even sleeping on it before coming to a final conclusion.
I consider my judgement to be pretty good and over the years I have learnt to trust my instincts about a candidate as much as their performance across the recruitment processes.
