The start of term is an exciting time for students and teachers alike. This time of year brings with it excitement, maybe some nerves and an overriding sense of optimism.

Students starting a new school will undoubtedly feel nervous and a sense of trepidation of what might lie ahead. The same might be said for teachers starting a new job at a new school – everyone wants to make a good first impression.

How many of us still start the first page of a new exercise book, planner or diary with immaculate handwriting, being as neat as possible on those first few important pages?
