Diary of an NQT: Behaviour for learning

By putting himself forward to help with a ‘behaviour for learning’ session, our NQT diarist hopes to make further improvements in his behaviour management

My hitting the ground running after the now-distant half-term break has continued apace this week and shows no sign of slowing!

I have been faced with a plethora of tasks to complete as well as a “twilight session” taking place after-school. Year 10 have just started their piece of controlled assessment and reports are due for year 10 and year 12. All of this needs to be completed this week – in just five days – which on a Monday sounds impossible.

I have been told the second half-term of the autumn term is by far the hardest and so far it is living up to expectations. The nights are getting longer and we are already in the cycle of coming to work in the dark and going home in the dark. Bizarrely, I quite like the long, dark evenings, because even after doing some work it just feels like you have more time at the end of the day.
