Diary of an NQT: I’m still standing

The summer term begins for our NQT diarist and she reflects on how far she has progressed and the challenges that still lie ahead

So, two terms of my NQT year have flown by already (how has that happened?!).

Although it seems to have passed by in a flash, I feel as though I have got a lot done and made a lot of progress in this short time since September.

Things that seemed impossible seven or eight months ago, while still not being a breeze, do not now fill me with fear. For example, teaching a full timetable, taking on challenging classes, managing piles of assessments, and even Ofsted – these all seemed to be these huge ogres waiting to bring me to my knees, but they have all come to pass this year and I am still standing.
