Diary of an NQT: Two terms down, one to go...

As the summer term begins, our NQT diarist reflects on what he has achieved so far and what challenges are still to come...

As I begin my final term as an NQT, I am taking stock of all that has happened so far this year while also looking ahead at the work that still needs to be done.

My first two terms have gone by quickly due to the fast-paced nature of the job. I am determined to make the most of my final months as an NQT to ensure that I am the best practitioner that I can be as I move into my second year.

Despite the disruption caused by the snowy weather, I managed to get all of my assessments completed and marked within the allotted time before Easter. On the whole, my students’ results were an improvement on those achieved during the first assessment cycle, showing that my classes are making progress.
