Diary of an NQT: An incident I regretted

Our NQT diarist is running over one particular incident of poor behaviour again and again in his mind and is worried about when he next teaches this student...

Why I was ever worried about parental consultations I don’t know. The evening that I spent so long preparing for and which I wrote about last week went really well.

I think I was initially worried that: a) I wouldn’t have much to say and b) I would run over on the allocated five-minute time slots.

I know those two things are contradictory but it is what went through my head. However, I managed to fill the time well and kept to my times perfectly.

The preparation I did last week really helped. After my initial introduction with each parent it seemed like I had already answered any questions they had come with (most of the time anyway).
